We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable leader to join our Senior Leadership Team. This exciting role has responsibility for Teaching and Learning and Continuing Professional Development throughout the Academy at its core.

Greig City Academy is unique. It is a diverse, vibrant and supportive community where staff and students thrive on innovation, collaboration and a shared commitment to success. Staff here go the extra mile to support students and the outcomes are often extraordinary.

Our successful and fully subscribed Academy is a caring and creative environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and gain the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Our aim is happy and successful children ready for their future.

You will be taking on the challenge of ensuring that good teaching and learning is firmly embedded throughout the Academy as the solid foundation of our future success. There is a real job to be done here and the right person will find that they will be an integral part, not just of the Senior Leadership Team, but the pivot in the development of every member of staff and every facet of life within the Academy.

This is an exciting time in the Academy’s journey.

We particularly welcome applications from women and from candidates from minority ethnic groups to further broaden and diversify our team.

Our team:

Led by Paul Sutton, the Principal, our Senior Leadership Team are strong, dedicated individuals of well qualified staff who share a common vision to raise students’ achievement.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a collegiate approach with a focus on their own contribution to our collective vision. Students and staff work together with enthusiasm and commitment often above and beyond the school day.

You will bring a new vision and creativity to our established team. Your fresh ideas and unique experience will take our team further. We expect you to challenge the status quo and create an effective programme to develop all of our staff.

You will be challenging conventions and inspiring others to do the same. You will elevate Teaching and Learning within the Academy, leaving a lasting impact on our students, staff and our educational landscape.

Leading appraisal and CPD for all staff, you will be a central figure as we move forwards.

You will be supporting curriculum development and innovation, behaviour management and individual staff career development.

All of your work will be underpinned by the effective use of data derived internally and externally as appropriate.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an excellent and proven practitioner inside and outside the classroom
  • demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills and have high expectations of all students
  • work analytically with the whole school community to identify and develop best practice
  • have excellent communication skills - verbally and in writing - with students, staff, parents, governors and other stakeholders

  • show a clear understanding of the Christian ethos of the school
  • be able to call upon these personal qualities as required to analyse and respond both to success and failure

What we offer:

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; staff turnover is consistently low and the wellbeing of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Staff can opt into incentives including our Cycle to Work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan for travel.
