Burgers, Big Ideas, and Brilliant Debates: Year 7 Tackle Global Economics

21st May 2025

A note from Ms Jack and Ms Onoszko:

This week, our Year 7 students swapped the classroom for Canary Wharf as they took part in an exciting economics workshop generously sponsored and hosted by Infosys and run by The Economist Education Foundation.

The workshop was centred around the Big Mac Index and involved a variety of tasks. The final challenge was a group presentation of the students' own idea for a universal product that could measure countries' purchasing power, which they performed with flair, showing great understanding of the concept as well as impressive ORACY skills.

The organisers sent us this message: "We thought your students were some of the most engaged we've had at any workshop and their ideas and opinions were thoughtful and unique. They all engaged in deep discussion about the issues and were good sports about the dancing!"

Finally, a big thank you goes to the lovely sixth formers Hejar and Fatima who accompanied us on the trip.
