We are proud to celebrate Emmily as GCA’s Artist of the Month for May. Emmily has shown outstanding commitment and creativity within her GCSE Art project, drawing inspiration from renowned artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Jenny Saville. Her exploration of portraiture has been both thoughtful and bold, demonstrating a mature understanding of form, texture, and expression.

Emmily has embraced the impasto technique with confidence, using thick layers of paint to build powerful, tactile surfaces that bring emotional intensity and atmosphere to her work. Her ability to take risks, experiment with materials, and interpret influence in a highly personal way exemplifies the spirit of our department motto: "Creativity Takes Courage." Through her originality and dedication, Emmily has pushed the boundaries of her practice and inspired those around her. We look forward to seeing how her creative journey continues to evolve.
