Beyond the Classroom: Science, Seals, and Slapton Ley!

16th Jun 2025

Note from Ms Atlagic...

A incredible trip with 50 enthusiastic KS3 students, selected for their commitment to our Science clubs and their passion for all things scientific.

We spent three fantastic days at the Slapton Ley Field Studies Council, where the students took part in team-building activities, hands-on practical work and explored areas of special scientific interest. They even had a close encounter with a local celebrity—a very charming seal—and built their own hibernaculum (perhaps an idea for future activities, Mr Bird?).

While this message only offers a glimpse into the experience, Isabela from Year 9 has promised us a video recap, so keep an eye out for that soon!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this trip in any way. A special shout-out to Ms Kearney, our brilliant Science Technician, who has been instrumental in running the Science clubs all year and was an incredible contributor to this trip. Many thanks also to Mr Appollis and and Mr Berglund for joining us and supporting the students throughout.
