Growing Futures: A green update from Ms Naidoo's gardening project - The Botanicals

5th Jun 2025

We've been busy transferring, repotting and rehousing our beautiful flower and vegetable plants.

Science are now the lucky recipients of our healthy hot chilli and sweet pepper plants, all grown from seed and incubated in AS01 might I add!

Outside, near the front of the basketball courts (depends on where you're standing of course..!) you will find our container garden filled with all sorts of beautiful plants and flowers.. dahlias from tubers, fuchsias ( thanks Paula from Reception who kindly donated these to us), clematis and all sorts but even more exciting... we have introduced tea herbs to one of our Mendi boxes!

We now have 3 gorgeous varieties for staff and pupils to help themselves to when fully grown... Lemon Balm, Moroccan Mint and Jiaogulan (Herb of life)

It is a hope that many of our keen and eager gardeners over time will continue to nurture their love of gardening and being outdoors .. perhaps they will pursue careers related to science and environmental studies? horticulture? who knows or perhaps it will just be a hobby, in which case how nice..

Lastly, our first dahlia! My little group of gardeners are just buzzing with joy!!!!
