Chess Club is back, and this term there’s an exciting new addition to the boards, chess clocks!

The new clocks were purchased thanks to Juliette, one of our deserving Jack Petchey Achievement Award winners.

Juliette was recognised for being an exceptionally conscientious student. In Oracy, she consistently demonstrates focus and determination, going above and beyond to meet positive expectations.

As part of her Jack Petchey Achievement Award, Juliette chose to support Mr Horner’s Chess Club by purchasing brand-new chess clocks a fantastic contribution that our chess players can enjoy for years to come!

We have also purchased a fantastic collection of chess books so that students can teach themselves new skills, improve their strategies and take their game to the next level. The books will also help new members learn the basics and quickly get up to speed.

The clocks are already adding a whole new dimension to the games, with players planning their strategies, making their moves and keeping a close eye on the clock!

Chess Club takes place every Thursday, welcoming students who want to develop their skills, challenge their friends and enjoy a good game of chess.
