A note from Mr Porter... 

Today, four Year 7 students and I extracted honey from our five beehives. We estimated that we collected enough honey to fill around 20 jars.

The students learned how to safely remove the honey supers and frames, use a smoker correctly to keep the bees calm, and inspect the hives for any signs of problems. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, giving everyone a chance to learn more about beekeeping and the important role bees play in our environment.
