29th Jun 2026Sixth Form students successfully completed an extraordinary voyage aboard Scaramouche, sailing across the English Channel to the island of Alderney.
The crew departed from Southampton at 1900hrs and sailed through the night, navigating both major shipping lanes before arriving in Alderney in the early hours of the following morning in time for the JOG race.
The return journey on Sunday marked the completion of a truly significant undertaking and an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
We are immensely proud of this team, who helmed and operated the boat for extended periods in every condition that sailing can offer. From flying the spinnaker downwind and reaching at speed to battling upwind conditions, navigating tricky tides and even enduring spectacular lightning storms, the crew demonstrated exceptional resilience, teamwork and seamanship throughout.
Their determination, skill and positive attitude were outstanding, and they represented the school superbly. Congratulations to all involved on completing such a remarkable adventure.
