Exploring Slapton Sands: Sixth Form Biology, Geography & A Level Scientists Field Trip

2nd Feb 2026

Our recent Sixth Form visit to Slapton Sands was a fantastic and inspiring experience for our Biology, Geography, and A Level scientists. A group of 46 students took part as part of their NEA projects, gaining valuable hands-on fieldwork experience in one of Devon’s most dynamic coastal environments.

The trip was hosted by the Field Studies Council, whose expert staff provided engaging, high-quality teaching and support throughout. Students developed key skills in data collection, analysis, and critical thinking while exploring coastal processes and ecosystems in a real-world setting.

The visit boosted confidence, teamwork, and academic understanding, leaving students motivated and proud of the work they achieved. We are extremely grateful for such a welcoming and inspiring centre that truly brings learning to life.
