Back to newsLearning from the Past: Students Reflect on the Holocaust at the Imperial War Museum
27th Jan 2026A note from Ms Irakleidou..
Last week, Miss Hardaker, Miss Albors, and I accompanied a mixed group of students on an educational visit to the Imperial War Museum. During the visit, students explored the First and Second World War galleries and participated in a specialist session focused on the Holocaust. The trip consolidated the learning from their Extra English lessons, which focused on History last term.
Throughout the day, students were encouraged to reflect critically on the causes and progression of the Holocaust. Using tablets, they navigated the galleries to locate key artefacts, photographs, and written sources, responding to guided questions that traced the experiences of the Jewish population and examined German policies before, during, and after the Holocaust.
The students demonstrated excellent engagement, asking thoughtful questions and responding with confidence and genuine curiosity. The visit was both highly educational and thoroughly enjoyable; most importantly, it successfully fostered meaningful interaction between the students, supporting one of our key educational aims- integration!
