22nd Jan 2026A-Level History and Politics students enjoyed an exceptional opportunity to visit the American Embassy as guests at a special event marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
During the visit, students heard from senior figures at the embassy, including the Deputy Chief of Mission, before taking part in a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring different narratives of the Declaration. Academics, curators and archivists shared expert insights into how the document has been interpreted across history.
The event also gave students the chance to engage directly with the panel. Year 13 student Moises posed a question on how minority groups have understood and responded to the Declaration of Independence, sparking a fascinating and wide-ranging discussion. It was a truly unique and enriching experience that brought classroom learning to life.
