Hornsey Food Bank Visit and Special Gift

19th Jan 2026

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Debra Gooden from Hornsey Food Bank (HFB), who visited GCA to present us with a wonderful token of appreciation for our Christmas donations.

Debra gifted the school a beautiful book of twelve portraits of HFB volunteers, painted by Andrew McDonald, a local portrait artist and fellow HFB volunteer. The portraits celebrate the people who give their time and energy to support the Food Bank’s vital work, and we are honoured to now have this special collection as part of our school community.

The book is currently in the safe and appropriate hands of our amazing Art Department, who are taking care of this wonderful book.

In addition, Debra has kindly offered Greig City Academy the opportunity to arrange student visits to Hornsey Food Bank on Wednesday afternoons. These visits would give students a behind-the-scenes look at how the Food Bank operates, including the logistics of collection and distribution, as well as insight into the numbers of clients and volunteers involved.

We extend our sincere thanks to Hornsey Food Bank and to Andrew McDonald for this thoughtful and inspiring gift, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in supporting our local community.
