It was an 8am start for 18 of our students on Saturday as they set off in 4 separate Covid-secure boats for the Christchurch Bay race.

Onboard we had:

Etchells Nationals: Azat Seun Jessye, Montel

Scaramouche: Moray, Florent, Hasan, Kacey, Pavel, Huseiyn

Riot: Kai, Jaydon, Christopher, Tyler

IF: Alex, Agid, Brandom

Results

After a VERY rough 35 mile course Scaramouche finished in 3rd and IF in 5th in the Christchurch Bay race – but Riot with Jaydon, Tyler, Kai and Christopher finished 3rd in the very elite IRC class. Those in the know sailing wise are amazed that four 15 year olds could compete at this level in tough conditions.  

Azat, Seun, Jessye and Montel finished 7th in the Etchells Nationals but they were the first youth boat, so are now Etchells Youth National Champions of 2020!

Lots more excitement next weekend when we have an all girls crew (skipper included) on Scaramouche taking part in the UK Sail Training ASTO Small Ships race.
