Congratulations to all our Tallow Chandlers bursary award winners

On Friday, 19 September, five high-achieving sixth formers were delighted to receive Tallow Chandler Company bursary certificates and cheques from the company's Master, Mr Ian Mcintyre.

The Tallow Chandlers Company generously supports STEM programmes at the Academy and the bursary scheme is just one of the many ways members support us.

The scheme awards bursaries to Year 13 students based on their performance in their AS exams at the end of Year 12.  Each student receives £500 and, provided they take a STEM subject at university, they will receive a further bursary during their first year.  Up to four students will receive a further £1000 when at university and the student with the best AS results overall will receive £2000.

Here are this year's winners:

Tallow Chandlers Award for Physics - Joseph Simeon

Tallow Chandlers Award for Chemistry - Rowland Rich

Tallow Chandlers Award for Product Design - Zohir Foukroun

Tallow Chandlers Award for Mathematics - Max Mellor

Tallow Chandlers Award for Biology - John Oteng

Joseph, who had the best AS results overall, will receive £2000 during his first year at university and the other four will receive £1000 - providing they all study a STEM subject that is.

Thank you very much, Tallow Chandlers.  A great incentive for this year's Year 12 STEM students!
