GCA Coders

What encourages students to do well in school? Recognition and rewards go a long way so the Computing department has introduced a new reward system to celebrate students’ competency; badges are being awarded for mastery in various different aspects of computing.

The badges are designed to reward achievement of competency and celebrate new skills learnt. They make students try harder, do things differently and think outside the box.

Badges can be gained for:

Teaching other students computing

Scratch programming

Binary programming

Database skills

Spreadsheet skills

KS3 programmer

Professional programmer

As Mr Porter tells GCA students...

"Doesn’t everyone want something to show for the work they do? Get thinking about how you can earn a badge and be able to say 'I’m a GCA computer scientist.'"

Mr Porter runs a coding club at Highgate Primary School which is now in its second year with some very enthusiastic coders.
