The Prime Minister's wife tweets about Mr Sutton (and some other heads)

Mr Sutton, the Academy’s principal since 2004 attended a reception at Downing Street last week which celebrated the country's most improved schools.

In the Department for Children, Schools and Families list of the 105 secondary schools in England that have had the biggest sustained improvement in their GCSE results over the previous four years, GCA is the only Haringey school featured.  We are also the 10th most improved in London and 28th nationally.  To be included in the table a school's results must have improved consistently each year.

The invitation from Downing Street described the reception as "an opportunity to recognise the enormous difference that you and others have made to the lives of pupils".

Mr Sutton said: "We know that the improvements we have put in place for our pupils are effectively raising standards at the school. And it is genuinely pleasing that this team effort by the whole school community has been recognised in this way."

He added: "The Prime Minister was clear that it is only through the hard work of staff in all schools that real changes take place. His speech was witty and interesting and he invited all the head teachers present to have a look around 10 Downing Street."

Sarah Brown later wrote on the social networking site Twitter: "Just attended reception for many of the top headteachers from around the UK - inspirational leaders all of them and no fear of the snow!"
