GCA named as the 4th most improved school in London

GCA is celebrating another set of improving exam results as the Key Stage 3 Achievement and Attainment Tables for 2007 are published.  GCA was named as the 4th most improved school in London for consistent and sustained improvement in our KS3 test results from 2004 to 2007.  Last year, the school was 55th in a list of the top 100 most improved schools and this year we have done even better and to come 13th in the national list of most  improved schools.  The school is very pleased with the results over the last four years but particularly pleased  with those for 2007.

The contextual value added figure, which is a measure of pupil progress, has increased from the 50th percentile in 2006 to the 9th percentile in 2007.  This puts Greig City Academy in the top 10% of schools for the progress that our students make  at Key Stage 3.The Principal Paul Sutton  is delighted: “To be named in the top 100 most improved schools two years running is a real achievement and reflects five years of  improving results at the school. This shows a sustained improvement in academic standards at the school over a significant period of time. These results for our Year 9 students show that the improvements are across the whole school.  Our GCSE results in 2007 were the best ever and our GCSE contextual value added scores put us in the top 5% of schools for the progress that our older students make.

I would like to congratulate all concerned for these excellent results. I want to thank students, staff and parents  for their hard work both inside and outside the classroom. Staff and students have put in extra time attending revision sessions after school and in the holidays and that extra effort has really paid off.  Well done.”
