The Academy's School Equality Scheme explains what we do and what we plan to do to a) ensure equal opportunities for students, staff, parents and carers and other users of the school taking positive account of their diverse backgrounds in terms of race, disability, gender, religious belief, sexual orientation, age or language, and b) challenge any discrimination against individuals or groups on these grounds.
The Scheme aims to meet the Race, Disability and Gender Equality Duties as well as the requirements of the law for Religion and Belief and Sexual Orientation.
We believe that it is not only our legal duty but also our moral obligation to provide equal opportunities, not to discriminate, and to challenge stereotyping. The fulfilment of this obligation is underpinned by our identity as a Christian school and the values we hold that are rooted in that identity.
Please note: There are two appendices to the Scheme which are not attached here. One lists the characteristics of students, staff and governors in terms of gender, ethnicity and disability. The other gives examples of how the day-to-day work of the school helps us celebrate diversity and achiev equality of opportunity and outcome.
Please contact the school if you would like copies of these appendices.
