Tackling Bullying

Students have a right to be safe and no-one has the right to cause another young person distress. All forms of bullying are unacceptable; we treat any incident very seriously and always take appropriate action.

It is important that you tell someone if you are being bullied or know of someone who is being bullied.  If you keep quiet, you give the bully more power. Telling someone about the bullying takes the power away.

If you are being bullied in one of the ways described below, or if you know someone who is being bullied, please talk to your tutor, a pupil progress manager or another a member of staff or fill in the form below and send it to us.  Parents who wish to report a bullying incident are also welcome to contact form tutors, pupil progress managers or to complete and submit the form below.

Once we have received the details, we will take appropriate action.

What is bullying?
Bullying takes many forms, face-to-face or through other people.  The hurt may be emotional, physical or both.

Physical: e.g. pushing, kicking, hitting, taking or damaging belongings, any use of violence

Verbal: e.g. name-calling, sarcasm, taunting, making threats, making offensive comments

Relational: e.g. excluding people from groups, deliberately ignoring, being unfriendly, refusing to talk to someone, gossiping, spreading rumours

Cyber bullying: e.g. sending bullying messages by text, phone calls, video-clips, email; using chatrooms and websites to spread rumours or to make offensive comments
