About the academy

Greig City Academy is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 19.  It is a city academy with independent status.  The Greig Trust and the Church of England sponsor the Academy.

The Academy was established in 2002 and is going from strength to strength.  Students benefit from exceptionally well-resourced classrooms, library and study areas as well as specialist facilities such as a new theatre.

We are continuing to develop ever stronger links with local primary schools and the wider community through a range of after-school activities for GCA and primary school children, summer schools, sports, arts and adult education.

This is what one recent visitor said about GCA’s students:

“The young people I met throughout my visit were friendly, lively and articulate. They are a real credit to themselves, their families and their teachers.”

David Bell, Permanent Secretary for Education

GCA’s Principal is Mr Paul Sutton BSc (Hons), MA.
GCA’s Chair of the Governing Body is Ms Sheila Taylor MA (Hons)
