We are really pleased to be running the Achievement Award Scheme which is now in its sixth year at the Academy. The scheme is run by the Jack Petchey Foundation which was set up in 1999 by Jack Petchey, a London businessman, to help young people take up opportunities and play a full role in society.
The Achievement Award scheme was set up to recognise "extreme endeavour and to help young people help themselves". For 9 months of the school year, a student is selected to receive an award for outstanding achievement or effort or a very positive contribution to the life of the Academy. The winner receives a framed certificate and a cheque for £200 payable to the Academy. The £200 is not for the personal use of the winner but to fund a project that will benefit the school or its local community. The winner decides how the money is spent. Here are some recent winners. Well done to all of them.
