A group of keen Year 7s have set up a Wildife Club which meets after school on Mondays. Students from Maths group N-MA4 are putting their Maths skills into practice by helping out in the wildlife garden - surveying and measuring the area, working out how we can best attract wildlife, cataloguing what we see, and deciding what types of plants grow well. All these activities will help us maintain the garden well so thanks to everyone in the group, especially Anna, Elsa, Sorah and Shamilla for all their hard work.
On the day we set up the bird feeders, we had an unexpected visitor – a young swan landed on the basketball pitch. We knew it would not be able to take off again because the space was too limited so Mr Sutton gently guided it to the car park and the RSPCA came to pick it up. Our visitor is now safely back with its family. You can see some photos here.
N-MA4 also took part in the national RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) Big Schools' Birdwatch this year - recording the different types of birds they saw on a particular day and analysing the data. You can see them at work below. You can also see some of our early sightings this year - frogspawn, a peacock butterfly and a pair of ducks.
