European Day of Languages 2008
October 2008On Friday 26th September we enjoyed an entertaining and stimulating European Day of Languages (EDL). The day celebrated the cultural and linguistic diversity enjoyed at GCA and this was the inspiration for the main activity – the Language Fair. In short, 10 minute sessions, older pupils, from Years 9-12, taught Year 7 pupils simple greetings, colours, animals and instructions in their mother tongues of Polish, Turkish, French, Italian, Greek, Twi and Portuguese. The focus for the afternoon session was the Hispanic world and, in a series of simultaneous workshops, the pupils worked in faculties across the school. In Food Technology pupils made delicious “churros”. In Design Technology pupils created posters to celebrate EDL. In Music, some pupils took part in a latin music session with guest musicians and, in Dance, 75 pupils were treated to a flamenco dance workshop. Please enjoy the photos you see here.
