Champions yet again

17th Jan 2022

On Saturday 15 January, our teams competed at the VRC Essex Regional Robotics Tournament hosted by St Helena School, Colchester. It was a hard fought competition with our Year 11 team leading the field all day! After sorting technical issues and working on strategy our Year 10s clawed their way back up the field and fought their way to the finals where our two teams went into battle.

Both teams showed real team work and thought long and hard over strategy, alliances with other teams and obviously the engineering of their robots. Even in the finals the result was in doubt, it came only in the last few seconds when both teams made their final play to score points.

At the end of a gruelling day ATORE won the tournament convincingly with their alliance partners Langton A, from Simon Langton School Canterbury and GCA Gearers were runners up with their alliance partners, Hybrid from Queen Elizabeth School Barnet.

Both teams are now qualified for The UK National Championship, and will be taking part in the World Championship Qualifiers in March.
