Y12 artists enjoyed their cuttle fish casting workshop with renowned artist Jacky Oliver

Year 12 artists were inspired by their workshop with Jacky Oliver, a renowned, prize-winning artist who works mainly in metal using a range of techniques and processes to create both small hand-held objects and large-scale architectural pieces.

After showing students some of her wide-ranging work and explaining her really original (and sometimes wacky!) ideas, Jacky encouraged them not to be afraid of thinking seriously about a career in art and design.

Then it was time to get down to the business of cuttle fish casting using pewter - a malleable metal.
