Kai and crew making waves - yet again!

9th Apr 2020

Did you see Kai and the rest of our second Fastnet Crew on CBBC this week?

If you missed it there's a chance to catch up here:

BBC iPlayer - My Life - Series 10: Making Waves

Mr Holt has just received this note fabout the programme from Chay Blyth (aka Sir Charles Blyth CBE) the first person to sail single-handed non-stop westwards around the world.

Hi Jon, watched the programme last night, I’d recorded it.  You all did well getting that yacht from almost zero to be Fastnet ready.

I thought it was very good and Kai did extremely well being the front man for the whole programme.  A budding TV presenter maybe?

The Team as a whole did very good and if it’s possible, please pass my congratulations to them.  Tell them to continue, the worlds their oyster, sailing and its environment is a great springboard for them.  There were some good stuff shown.  Kai not moving the wheel too much when helming, it looked like he had a definite feel for helming, highlighted in going down wind.

The ripped spinnaker gave the guys something to sort out in an emergency and sort out they did, well done them!   However it must have been heavy work hoisting the teacher up, he looked quite a big fellow.

You might pass on to them if you can, I lived as far away from the sea as they do!  I also didn’t take up sailing until I was 27 years old!  With them starting much younger than me, I expect to hear about them completing more great adventures!
With best wishes and stay safe in this weird world we are in just now.
Chay
